Live Your Dream Awards
LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARDS
Soroptimist works to raise money annually for cash awards for women who are creating better lives for themselves and their families through education.
Providing access to education is the most effective path to self-determination.
A panel of judges from our community are assembled to select women and girls who have applied for this assistance based on their merits and needs.
Our hope in providing these awards is that disadvantaged women working to complete or advance their education and job training can get closer to completing their education goals, improving their lives and living their dreams.
- Individuals and companies can provide money towards these cash awards through donations, sponsoring our annual award event and by supporting Soroptimist’s fundraising projects throughout the year.
- Winners selected from our community become eligible for region level and international level awards as well.
- Applications are accepted from July 1, 2018 til November 15, 2018.
Three awards are given annually and include:
Award which supports the aforementioned; the RUBY Award, which supports women who, through their own work and service, help to improve the lives of women and girls; and the VIOLET RICHARDSON Award, which supports young high school aged girls who are exhibiting volunteerism in their community. LIVE YOUR DREAM PLUS
Soroptimist mentors and follows women who receive cash awards for education and job training for at least three years. Help with finding employment or providing contacts for possible employment; assisting with minor hurdles; providing interview coaching; reaching out during Holidays; and being there for moral support are just a few of the ways Soroptimist continues to assist women getting back into the job market or helping to better their employment position.
Soroptimist adopts children and even their Mothers through organizations such as The Salvation Army trafficking branch, Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy and other local organizations to provide gifts from a wish list provided prior to the Holiday Season.
