This Plot Open House will be a relaxed, one-on-one event, held at the Ag Service Center’s Cover Crop Plot.  You can find the plot to the south of the driveway when headed back to our office at 3140 S SR 100, Ste D, Tiffin.

The plot features five species of cover crops that were planted at four different times over an eight week span.  The open house will showcase the effect of planting date on cover crop specie,  answer your questions on spring termination and succeeding crop planting, as well as share the 2014 harvest data and research results.

See our post for flier and more info.

Seeding deadlines for wheat, cereal rye and triticale have been extended by NRCS.  If you are enrolled in an EQIP contract for cover crops to be planted this fall, your new planting deadline is Oct 31 for wheat and triticale and Nov 10 for cereal rye.

Watch the front yard at the office as we have been planting some demonstration strips for seeding date comparison among species of cover crops.  Stop by and talk with Bret or Kendall for more of the specifics.

In front of our office building we have an area to demonstrate . This year plantings have been happening every 14 days to demonstrate plant growth as the calendar keeps turning. Keep an eye on it when passing by. Better yet, stop in for a quick walk and talk with one of our guys!
